Penske Truck Leasing recently had the opportunity to leave its mark on a newly opened technical school – literally.
Fresh from his tour in the Marine Corps, Cristian Raymundo wanted more than just a job when he settled back into civilian life.
“Hearing from professional, successful women in the industry brought a new level of education to our students, one that can’t be taught in the classroom,” explained Jacqui Arcidiacono, employment services director for UTI-Exton.
Gregg Mangione, Penske Truck Leasing senior vice president of maintenance, stated that company truck technicians can learn many new things in "our system."
Universal Technical Institute students (UTI) are invited to apply for the Penske Truck Leasing Diesel Excellence Scholarship, a $3,000 scholarship awarded each quarter to up to three students.

A dedication ceremony took place earlier today at Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Philadelphia in Exton, Pa., to commemorate a 1,900-square-foot multipurpose room that was funded by Penske Truck Leasing. The “Penske Room” will serve as a venue for student and staff activities: presentations, training seminars and student-peer tutoring sessions. It will become an active classroom and lab.
“One of our largest employment needs is skilled truck maintenance technicians and maintenance managers,” stated Bill Jacobelli, Penske’s senior vice president of maintenance. “We value our relationship with UTI to hire graduates to maintain our 6,600-person North American truck maintenance workforce and field maintenance management.”

Penske Truck Leasing has established a scholarship program through the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation. ThePenske Truck Leasing Diesel Excellence Scholarship is being established through a gift of $100,000 to the UTI Foundation and is intended for students attending any of the Universal Technical Institute’s eight campuses across the country that offer an auto diesel-training program.
