CSCMP EDGE 2017: 3PL Industry Focused on Relationships, Technology to Drive Optimization and Performance
Supply chain activity continues to accelerate, and shippers and their logistics providers keep moving towards more meaningful partnerships that can provide value and create a competitive advantage. At the same time, greater availability of data and the ability to make real-time decisions are driving shippers, and their logistics providers, towards more collaborative relationships, which is leading to new and innovative solutions.
Serving the community is central to the mission of the Salvation Army of Reading, Pennsylvania, yet on a recent warm September day, it was a group of Penske associates who came to serve.
Penske Logistics recognizes the challenges professional drivers face on the road, everything from weather, road conditions and the actions of other drivers.
As a mode of transportation (when compared with private truck fleets or the use of common carriers) dedicated contract carriage is still a relatively new choice for shippers. But it has been nearly 40 years since the Interstate Commerce Commission deregulated the trucking industry, and given the inevitable evolution in markets, I’d say DCC is coming of age.
The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) will soon host one of the industry’s leading conferences, the newly renamed CSCMP EDGE, where Penske Logistics will be highly visible. Taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta from September 24-27, over 3,000 supply chain practitioners will participate in this conference and exhibition.
Communities large and small depend on millions of professional truck drivers – dedicated men and women – to deliver both the staples of touchstone celebrations and everyday life.
For many professional truck drivers, each new day is an opportunity to greet the open road with a freedom and sense of wonder not found in many other professions.
Penske Truck Leasing, Co., L.P. (PTL) is pleased to announce that Penske Automotive Group, Inc. (PAG) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) have both increased their ownership positions in PTL.
Life’s touchstone moments – holiday gatherings and family celebrations – would be less festive without professional truck drivers.
