On February 17, 2011, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will host a public listening session on a proposed rule revising hours-of-service (HOS) requirements for commercial truck drivers. The public can participate in-person, online, or by phone. Check out the DOT’s Fast Lane blog for the full details on how to participate. Please be advised the United States Department of Defense has announced it will conduct GPS tests in the Southeast during two separate time frames(now through Feb. 11, and Feb. 15-Feb. 22) that will temporarily disrupt navigation systems for commercial truck drivers and the general public. Also affected will be GPS-based telematics systems available from Penske Truck Leasing’s FleetIQ portfolio including: CyntrX, PeopleNet and Xata.
