COVID-19 Updates

Penske is dedicated to meeting your transportation needs now more than ever. As an essential business, our team is working hard to keep supply chains up and running. And we are open and ready to serve you.

Today and always, our number one priority is the health and safety of our associates, customers and communities. We are in unprecedented times. Like every company, Penske has been closely monitoring developments related to coronavirus (COVID-19), including updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), public officials and other leading health experts.

We've implemented enhanced processes in the following areas: Truck Rental, Leasing & Maintenance, Used Trucks and Logistics.

Our Commitment Remains

Our People

Our associates are working hard to keep trucks running, warehouses full, and freight flowing.

To protect the health of our associates and our customers, we have implemented enhanced precautionary practices:

  • Providing associates with guidance and information to help keep themselves, their families and our customers safe
  • Requiring associates and customers to wear face coverings in our facilities
  • Encouraging associates to use enhanced hygiene practices, including frequent handwashing and social distancing
  • Requiring associates to closely monitor their health and to remain home when not feeling well
  • Increasing the sanitization level and frequency in our facilities, transaction areas, trucks, equipment and touchpoints
  • Restricting all non-essential domestic and international travel, meetings or large gatherings
  • Supporting associates through a special hotline to address all their needs related to COVID-19

Our Vehicles

We have enhanced the techniques used to clean all our vehicles and are using CDC-recommended disinfectants to routinely sanitize our rental, maintenance and logistics vehicles. We are paying special attention to common touchpoints, such as:

  • Seats and seatbelts
  • Steering wheels
  • Door handles
  • Keys
  • Knobs, buttons, latches and controls
  • All other hard surfaces and screens

Our Facilities

As a leading transportation and logistics provider, Penske is an essential business and remains open.

We have increased the sanitization level and frequency in all our facilities and are routinely cleaning all high-touch surfaces and common areas with CDC-recommended disinfectants.

We are limiting the need for customers, vendors and partners to enter our rental, maintenance and logistics facilities and positioning associates outside many locations to greet and direct customers to designated parking or pick-up areas.

To promote health and safety, we are requiring face coverings and practicing social distancing at our locations. We are also limiting the need to exchange personal information and paperwork during transactions, by completing necessary documentation in advance.

Truck Rental
How We’re Taking Action from Reservation to Drop-Off

When You Make a Rental Reservation

  • Be prepared to provide the date and time that you will pick up your truck, so we are ready for your arrival.
  • We are currently not accepting cash payments.
  • Have your driver's license and credit card information available (for commercial customers with a card on file or direct bill account, these arrangements still apply). This will speed up the rental process when you pick up your truck. If you do not have your driver's license information at the time of reservation, we will request it at a later date.
  • If you have questions about your commercial rental reservation, please call us at 1-800-PENSKE-1 or click here.
  • For your personal rental reservation, please call 1-844-847-9577 or click here.

When You Arrive for Your Rental*

  • Your truck will be sanitized and ready for you.
  • At our busy locations, we are limiting the number of customers inside the rental office and may have you check in at the door.
  • You will be asked to place two forms of ID and a payment method (commercial customers with prior pay arrangements, will be asked for two forms of ID) on the counter to match your information to your reservation.
  • After providing these documents, you will be directed to your vehicle.

*Applies to Penske-owned locations. Home Depot and other agent locations may vary in their pick up and drop off processes.

When You Return Your Rental Vehicle*

  • During normal office hours, please park your vehicle in the designated return area.
  • If we are closed, please park your vehicle in the designated return area and place the keys to the vehicle in a drop box.

*Applies to Penske-owned locations. Home Depot and other agent locations may vary in their pick up and drop off processes.

Truck Maintenance
How We’re Taking Action from Scheduling Maintenance to Pick-up

When You Schedule Maintenance

  • Schedule work in advance using our current technology tools, such as Fleet Insight or your own DVIR process (if integrated with Penske), our PM Scheduling Team, or simply call ahead to schedule the drop off.
  • You will be directed to a designated parking area for vehicles to be serviced. Check in using the Penske Driver™ app, signage will provide a number to call for assistance, or a Penske associate will greet you.
  • If you arrive after our facility has closed for the day, park in the designated area, secure your vehicle and then place the keys in our drop box. If you have the Penske Driver app, don’t forget to check in.

Calling Roadside Assistance

Our technicians will practice social distancing. For example, our technicians will communicate with the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Remain inside your vehicle during repair. If it is necessary for our technician to enter the vehicle, he or she will clean all touchpoints as a preventive measure.

When You Arrive For Service

  • You will be directed to a designated parking area for vehicles to be serviced. A Penske associate will greet you, or signage at our maintenance department entrance will provide a number to call for assistance.
  • If you arrive after our facility has closed for the day, park in the designated area, secure your vehicle and then place the keys in our drop box.

When Service is Complete

  • A Penske associate will direct you to your vehicle. Your vehicle will have been sanitized and the paperwork/keys will be on the seat.
  • We have enhanced the techniques used to clean our vehicles after service. Our associates are paying special attention to wiping down interior touchpoints, such as steering wheels, door handles, shift knobs and other hard surfaces.
  • In the future, be sure to check in for service using the Penske Driver app.

When Fueling Your Vehicle

Remain inside your vehicle during fueling.

Used Trucks
How We’re Taking Action from Pick-up to Departure

When You Schedule Vehicle Pick-Up

  • You will be notified when your vehicle is ready to be picked up. At that time you will be asked by your Vehicle Sales Coordinator to schedule a pick-up time at our facility. Please do not arrive without an appointment.
  • We now require 48 hours advanced notice to complete the transaction and clean the vehicle for you.
  • Appointments are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

When You Arrive

  • Proceed to the staging area outside the shop. A Penske associate will be ready to assist you.
  • Your vehicle will be staged and sanitized.
  • The Penske associate completing the transaction will be practicing social distancing.
  • Once your transaction is complete, the Penske associate will leave the keys and final paperwork on the seat of the vehicle.
  • If there are items that need attention at the time of pick up, the Penske associate will note those items and advise you or your driver on how to proceed. If there is an issue that you feel needs to be addressed after you leave the Penske location, please call your Penske Remarketing Representative. DO NOT return to that location or arrive at another location without first calling to schedule an appointment.
