Final ELD Mandate Deadline Takes Place in December
The last leg of the electronic logging mandate occurs in December, and all fleets that are required to keep records of duty service will need to have electronic logging devices (ELD) installed in their trucks. Many fleets have already made the transition, but those that haven’t should act now.
Today, the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) announced that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published the waiver TRALA requested for short-term rental trucks in the Federal Register.
FMCSA Posts ELD Waiver for Rental Trucks Online
The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) reported over the weekend that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) listed its 90-day waiver from the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate, for rental trucks on its website. While TRALA was granted the waiver December 12, 2017, it was awaiting FMCSA to formally post the waiver in the Federal Register. TRALA expects FMCSA to formally post the waiver in the Federal Register later this week. Penske Truck Leasing is a member of TRALA and operates an extensive fleet of commercial rental trucks.
FMCSA Grants 90-day ELD Waiver for Short-Term Rental Trucks
Earlier today, the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) was notified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that it had granted TRALA's request for a 90-Day waiver from the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate for short-term rental trucks (defined as 30 days or less).
