Flint, Michigan, Children Receive Much-Needed Water Donation

Penske associates in Flint, Michigan, help deliver cases of bottled water to three local schools, bringing clean water to hundreds of children.

A Penske rental truck filled to the rafters with cases of bottled water made the rounds to three Flint, Michigan, schools, bringing clean water to hundreds of children.

With municipal drinking water system issues plaguing Flint residents, Penske provided a truck and driver to the General Motors location in Burton, Michigan. The location conducted a water donation drive and needed a way to transport the bottled water to the schools.

More than 675 cases -- 21, 336 bottles of water -- were delivered recently to Freeman Elementary, Potter Elementary and International Academy of Flint.

Penske driver Mike Heiser said the 24-foot straight truck was nearly filled to capacity with donated water and took several people to unload the precious cargo. Heiser said he was more than happy to shepherd it to its final destination.

Helping the community is what Penske is all about.

“When we have the opportunity to take care of the community we operate in, we do so,” said Anthony Posler, operations manager in Flint.
