Fireworks and Rental Trucks Do Not Mix

Penske Truck Rental is ready and willing to help businesses with their truck rental needs – except when it comes to transporting fireworks.

“Due to the extremely volatile nature of fireworks, Penske does not allow them to be transported in the back of our trucks for the safety of our customers and other citizens,” said Dave Baptisti, Penske’s director of national consumer sales and programs.

Every summer, Penske rental representatives across the United States receive inquiries from businesses wanting to transport their hazardous cargo for Independence Day celebrations. Typically, truck rental agreements contain language from the U.S. Department of Transportation prohibiting the “carrying or hauling of explosives and other dangerous articles,” i.e., flammable items, including fireworks, flammable solvents, propane, gasoline, chemicals and cleaning materials.

If your business needs to transport fireworks, contact your local Penske agent for other options in your area and for other ways Penske can help your business succeed.
