The essential role of professional truck drivers has been in the spotlight in recent months as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.
Increased demand for the staples of daily life – food, household goods and other items – has provided challenges to the global supply chain to keep up with consumer needs.
Penske Logistics is pausing this week to thank our drivers during National Trucking Week who help keep the supply chain moving.
National Trucking Week, sponsored by the Canadian Trucking Alliance, began on Sunday, Sept. 6, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 12.
The CTA joined with provincial truck associations across Canada to create National Trucking Week to highlight the contributions made by 400,000 Canadians – among them thousands of truck drivers – whose work in the trucking industry helps keep the Canadian economy moving.
Penske Logistics appreciates the extraordinary contribution of its nearly 5,500 professional truck drivers across Canada and the U.S. who help keep the world moving forward.
"Over roadways large and small, the nation's truck drivers keep our economy moving," said Marc Althen, President of Penske Logistics. "At no time has your role as a professional truck driver been more important than during COVID-19."
Drivers in the U.S. will be the focus of a similar celebration next week.
National Truck Driver Appreciation week begins Sunday, Sept. 13, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 19, sponsored by the American Trucking Associations.

La National Trucking Week, commanditée par l'Alliance Canadienne du Camionnage, commence le dimanche 6 septembre et se poursuit jusqu'au samedi 12 septembre.
L'ACC s'est associée à plusieurs organismes provinciaux de l'industrie du camionnage au Canada pour créer la National Trucking Week. Celle-ci met en évidence les contributions apportées par 400 000 Canadiens, incluant des milliers de camionneurs, dont le travail dans l'industrie du camionnage contribue à la prospérité de l'économie canadienne.
