It is our responsibility to treat customers, colleagues, the community, and the environment with respect. That includes your personal information. We ensure your privacy by handling your personal information in a safe and accountable manner.

Penske privacy notice for rental customers and drivers

Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. and its subsidiaries ("Penske") understand our customers' concern about privacy and the use of their personal information. Use of any information gathered from or about our customers through the Penske vehicle rental or lease process or the Driver App shall be governed by the Sites' Terms of Use ( and this Privacy Notice. Penske encourages you to read this Privacy Notice in full to learn how Penske treats personal information obtained through the use of Penske services.

Information we collect

When you rent or lease a vehicle from Penske, we collect, use, and share information about you in the following ways:

We collect personal information including your name, address, driver's license number, and payment information when you pick up a truck. We use this information to complete the truck rental process, perform watch list checks, provide reimbursements, process rental payments, and send rental-related communications and surveys. We share this information with service providers for these purposes.

If you request support through our 24/7 roadside assistance service, we collect your name, phone number, and device geolocation, such as the geolocation of your smartphone. We share this information with local roadside service providers only.

If you are using the Driver App, we collect personal information including your name and driver's license information from your employer to create an account in the Driver Management Portal. We also collect your driving history and geolocation when you are logged in and your status is set to "Driving". We use this information to log driver history and hours. We do not share this information with third parties. You may turn off location tracking by setting your status to "Not Driving", by logging out, or by exiting the app. Please note, if you close the Driver App or turn off location tracking, it may impact your ability to track your driving hours.

If you are involved in an incident with or while driving a Penske truck, we may collect additional personal information from you including contact, medical, financial, and insurance information if you choose to use a Penske insurance provider, or as necessary to process, settle, or litigate claims related to incidents involving Penske vehicles. We use this information for insurance processing and claim management purposes only. We share this information with our service providers and insurance partners.

Penske does not sell your personal information to third parties.

Information collected from third parties

We receive additional contact information about you from service providers, and use this information to process accidents or other traffic incidents involving Penske vehicles.


The security of customer information is very important to us, and we take a number of steps to safeguard it. We maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information. We also use encryption to secure certain personal information where deemed necessary.

Furthermore, once the information has been received by us, we use security procedures and policies commensurate with industry standards to safeguard against loss, theft, unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification and/or disclosure.

Administrative, legal process, and business transfers

In addition to the sharing described above, Penske may disclose information about you if Penske believes that disclosure is necessary (a) to satisfy any law, regulation, or governmental request; (b) to respond to a subpoena; or (c) to protect the safety, rights or property of Penske or Penske rental or leasing customers.

We may also transfer your personal information in connection with any sale or transfer of our business and assets. In such event, Penske will use reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal information remains protected.

Individual rights

Under local data privacy laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Right to know and request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information Penske has collected about you, as well as the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected, the purpose for collecting the personal information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share your personal information.
  • Right to request deletion of your personal information Penske has collected. Local data privacy laws allow Penske to retain certain pieces of personal information.
  • Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. Penske does not sell personal information to third parties.

If you wish to exercise any legal rights you may have under these local data privacy laws or other applicable privacy laws, please do so by visiting our Individual Rights Management portal or contact us using the information in the "Contact us" section below. If you designate an authorized agent to make an individual rights request on your behalf, please contact us using the information in the "Contact us" section below. Identity verification may be required prior to responding to an individual rights request. In order to verify your identity in Penske systems you will need to provide your first and last name, email address, phone number, and state of residence. As long as at least two or three pieces of information provided match those in our systems, your identity will be considered verified. If Penske cannot verify your identity based on the information provided, Penske may request additional information.

Penske is committed to not discriminating against consumers, and will not do so in response to individuals exercising privacy rights under related local data privacy laws.

Children's privacy

Penske does not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under the age of sixteen (16) or allow such children to participate in any services offered on the Sites that require the submission of user information. Should Penske learn that someone under the age of sixteen (16) has provided any personal information to or on any of the Sites, Penske will take steps to remove that information as soon as possible.
