Penske Donates Antique Truck to Hershey's Museum

READING, Pa., November 30, 2007 - Penske Truck Leasing has donated a 1914 Garford Stake Bed Truck to the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey, Pa. The AACA Museum, a member of the Smithsonian Institute Affiliations Program, will display the antique truck as part of its current exhibit "The American Pickup Truck", which features over two dozen vehicles from 1905 to 1980.

"We are delighted to receive this donation from Penske Truck Leasing," said Jeff Bliemeister, Museum Curator. "Garford trucks are not a common site in museums or on show fields, and we are pleased to have this outstanding gift to share with our visitors." He noted the age and rarity of the truck make it significant: "The Garford truck predates what we typically today refer to as the pickup truck. This truck began its life as a powered chassis, with its cab and bed built after delivery from the factory."
