Devon Gehman, Branch Service Manager
With Penske since 2008
As a branch service manager, I feel like I bring value to the company, and I'm part of a great team who makes sure our trucks are in top shape and safe for our drivers. A well-maintained fleet keeps our customers happy, too.
I enjoy the variety of work I do at Penske. We have the newest fleet and have the highest service and safety standards for all our equipment. The service department is fast-paced and keeps me interested and challenged.
I began working for Penske part time as a customer service representative during my senior year in high school while attending vo-tech for diesel mechanics. After graduation, I became a Technician III, and the following year I was promoted to a Technician II. Three years later, I enrolled in Penske's Technician Certification Program (TCP). Six months later, I was promoted to Technician I and today I am a branch service manager.
The TCP gave me a broader understanding of the ins and outs of the maintenance shop and how to resolve problems you might not encounter every day. Penske really emphasizes on-the-job learning, which I believe gives technicians a professional advantage.
Penske is a great place to work for many reasons: great pay, excellent benefits package and supportive, encouraging supervisors. A maintenance career is perfect for someone who is willing to learn, is hard-working and enjoys hands-on work.
