Chris Mackowski, District Business Development Manager
With Penske since 1997
I've touched many different parts of our business: sales, leasing, rental, operations, financial—I even spent a year and a half as a Six Sigma Black Belt in our quality department. Because Penske's constantly growing, I've found myself going down career paths I never thought I would. I feel that they've made a tremendous investment in me, and that certainly keeps me motivated. They haven't painted me into a corner.
I truly believe that we work for a world-class organization. We look out for our customers. Because at the end of the day, we know that if we do that 100 percent of the time, we're going to be successful as an organization.
Penske has a culture that puts people first. That doesn't apply just to customers—it applies to associates, too. We work hard with our fellow associates, and we enjoy socializing together, too. When I started out at Penske as a management trainee, there was a group of us who played softball a couple times a week. As we've all grown in our careers and gone on in life, we still play softball today. We have one associate who lives an hour-and-a-half away and he still makes it out to a game once a month. Those relationships that started as purely business have developed into something more than that.
